London to Boston for just £179! Air fare war breaks out as Norwegian launches cheap Dreamliner ticket (but you'll have to be quick as only 26 people per flight can buy one)
- Norwegian offering 'cheapest' one-way UK to USA ticket among carriers
- The route will launch next spring, from London Gatwick to Boston Logan
- British Airways and Virgin have also announced lower long-haul fares
A low-cost airline from the land of the Vikings has launched a dramatic new transatlantic price-war against British Airways and Sir Richard Branson's Virgin with the 'cheapest' one-way UK tickets to Boston from as low as £179 .
The daring raid by Scandinavian budget airline Norwegian is likely to spark retaliatory headline-grabbing price cuts by its rivals when the new service begins next spring with flights between London's Gatwick and Boston's Logan airports.
The new Norwegian flights from Gatwick airport are directly targeting major airlines on the route including British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, Delta, American Airlines and KLM, which fly to Boston directly or via other hubs.
Low-cost carrier Norwegian has said that it will offer £179 one-way tickets from the UK beginning in May 2016
Boston in Massachusetts - home of the infamous 'Tea Party' protest which preceded America's War of Independence and eventual break from Britain - is the new frontline in an air fares war from the UK to the US.
The £179 price for a one way ticket was hailed by Norwegian as 'the UK's cheapest flight to Boston.'
Flights launch on 13 May 2016 and will fly four times a week arriving at 8pm Boston time.
