Engineer (Data Operations) / New York, NY or Old Greenwich, CT / Full Time / Quantitative Hedge Fund

Our client, Quantitative Hedge Fund, is seeking a technologist to support the life cycle of large data sets, which are inputs into prediction signals for our fully-automated, quantitative trading strategies. The successful candidate will work with portfolio managers and quantitative researchers to ensure all datasets are always available, and develop scalable solutions for monitoring and managing our ever growing business-critical data. This is a fast paced operations and support role with the data team.

Job Responsibilities:
• Monitor the model production and testing processes, identify and troubleshoot issues, and apply fixes
• Work with researchers and other users to address their questions regarding model testing, production, datasets and databases
• Administrate user access to data, perform audits and track usage
• Compile and analyze dataset and model production statistics and produce specialized reports
• Design, implement and enhance scalable monitoring applications and tools
• Programming in order to help scale and automate systems

Job Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Computer Science or related field preferred but not required
• Willingness to spend majority of time doing application support, with some amount of development (20-30% development)
• Strong comfort level working in a Unix/Linux environment
• Shell scripting skills preferred, however, alternates such as Python or Perl are acceptable
• Familiarity with at least one major programming language such as C++, C, Java preferred
• Experience with relational databases
• Experience with Spark or big data/open source technologies is a big plus
• Knowledge of web-technologies such as Javascript, AJAX is a plus
• Candidates interested in the NY office must be able to go to CT initially for training purposes and occasionally for team meetings. There are free shuttles provided by the company from the local train station.
